You may remember my rants last year about image copyright/license violations and the importance of giving credit for images. The issue came up several times on this blog, most notably in More on plagiarism and copyright, Image Theft, and Free Publicity . I was very surprised to finally see this posted at the Red Dragon Inn [...] I frequently disagree with Panther, the Dragon’s Mark site owner, about his administrative policies and how he runs his Red Dragon Inn site. Despite our differences, I have a great deal of respect for him; the man has expended a great deal of time, money, and effort to develop a great place for people [...] Some more excerpted comments from the Red Light, Green Light discussion that I wanted to finally address. All of these are from Bad Juju. The site will never be properly policed, the admins don’t have the time nor will they give the proper power to others to handle such situations. . . Sure, they have policies that [...] One of my conclusions in Red Light Redux was that Dragon’s Mark needs more staff. But that brings up more questions, like. . . How do you find responsible “smile-from-the-wrist-down” volunteers for your staff? There were some very interesting comments in the discussion of Red Light, Green Light. In part: There aren’t enough people to catch and enforce these cyber sessions in the chat rooms –or– some one let something slide either on the forums or in a chat room, someone saw this and just assumed they could get away [...] I’ve heard from several people that there’s been a recent rash of sensual, sexual, and downright explicit RP happening in live chat in various rooms at Dragon’s Mark. This is nothing new. Back in March, 2008, Panther, arguably the most well-known and public face of the Admins at Dragon’s Mark, found it necessary to post “The Red [...] It’s finally come up at yet another roleplay community forum I frequent: a Roleplay Pet Peeves thread. Right now, the thread has almost 100 responses, mostly variations of: -I hate people who do/do not play Character Type X. I have a few comments about all the complaints about blogs in the No Swimming – Keep Out discussion at Dragon’s Mark. First. If anyone has a specific complaint about me or my blog** – and I’ve seen a couple oh-so-charming indirect references in that thread already – I would appreciate it if you’d comment, IM, [...] At both Dragon’s Mark’s and Starsider Galaxy’s Out of Character discussion forums, I keep seeing some extremely vague complaints being posted. Those of us not in the know are often left completely confused about the real problems are. Often, all I get out of these generic situations is that Player A does not like [...] I am happy to see that Dragon’s Mark has come up with the following policy on plagiarism: If you go here: http://dragonsmark.com/dm-infractions.php you will see we have three levels of severity when it comes to site infractions.
