After a typical bout of insomnia in the wee hours of this morning, I did finally get back to sleep.

My alarm interrupted a dream that started in Las Vegas, where I was riding along with Matt in an ambulance, who was showing my twin and I what its like to be a paramedic. We were checking out this lake for victims of a collapsing building, when the timbers finally gave up the ghost and fell apart over me. I almost drowned, but hey, there was oxygen available, but hey, it wasn’t working right so I still couldn’t breathe so well. It was like trying to breathe through a straw. (Yes, I had an asthma attack last night.)

Then I was touring the psycho ward of some hospital, and there was this guy who kept a collection of eyeballs of other patients who’d been roomed with him… and doctors who’d tried to treat him. He had all his eyeballs lined up on the floor. His most recent roommates were huddled weeping in a corner. They had flippers for hands, which didn’t seem that odd at the time. Eyeball guy broke out and headed straight for the Director of the facility, then offered to spare his eyes if only he’d push this button on the wall. The Director pushed the button, which dropped the planetary shields and opened Earth up for nuclear bombardment and an alien invasion.

At the point when my alarm went off, I was with two other aliens in a small spacecraft, fleeing pursuit from the allies of Eyeball guy.

However, I had overwhelming carb cravings when I got home from work. And for the most part, I indulged them. I’m not sure if I was eating for stress (I didn’t feel that stressed) or. . . oh.

PMS.

Great.

I’ve missed a few days on FitDay, because I haven’t found much free time to record what I’ve been eating and doing. This is mostly because much of my so-called free time has been given over to exercise. It’s been nice enough outside to walk on my breaks at work, and I’ve been trying to get at least another 20 minutes of cardio and/or strength at home.

Despite not maintaining my food journal, I’ve still been watching what I eat. I think. Well, maybe not. For example, I can’t remember what I had for breakfast yesterday. Or lunch. HOWEVER! Dinner last night was chili lemon chicken and pasta and it was awesome.

My weight is still creeping up. I don’t think it’s because I’m eating too much. Water weight and muscle gain have been proposed as causes, and I think it could be either or both. I do drink a lot of water, because, you know, kidney stones are something you only have to go through once to learn the importance of not getting dehydrated.

We have a weight loss challenge going on at work. Most of the secretaries are taking the challenge fairly seriously, and a couple are taking it VERY seriously. (I’m in the former group!) Only two of the attorneys are participating, but they’re both already reasonably lean. We’re all watching what (and how much) we eat and exercising more. Well, not all; one of the people participating has not realized that deceiving your peers (and yourself) about your eating and exercise habits and your weight is counter-productive in a challenge like this.

The weather has been cooperative, but I haven’t had time to take a lot of breaks at work lately. I’ve been walking when I can and trying to make up the difference by exercising at home. All I can do is make the best of the time I do have, right?

I’m on day three of a tension headache. Starts at the base of my skull on the left side and crawls down to my shoulder and up across the left side of my head. I’m not really sure what started it, but I have a sore throat and a stuffed up ear on that side too. I want to take Motrin, except it would seriously upset my stomach. Blood doesn’t belong anywhere in the GI tract.

Aya and I are planning on going to the SPCA book sale tomorrow. Can’t wait to see what they have!

Yes, I skipped FitDay over the weekend.

This was deliberate; both Saturday and Sunday were planned “cheat days” for me. I ate lots of chocolate. Didn’t even go for a walk. After getting errands out of the way on Saturday morning, Aya and I lounged around, giggled a lot, and mostly played videogames all weekend: Final Fantasy 7, Xenogears, Free Realms, and Lord of the Rings Online. And we watched movies – New Moon and Barbie in a Mermaid Tale.

Lazy weekend. It was great.

Once Aya went back to her dad’s and took her Easter candy with her (OMG chocolate!!!), I got back on track.

I spent most of the afternoon with a wretched headache today. Tylenol didn’t touch it. My blood sugar was fine – not too high, not too low, so I’m not sure where that came from. Tension maybe?

I picked up Aya’s Easter candy on the way home tonight. There’s way too much chocolate for one little girl to eat there. Hopefully she’ll bring it home Sunday night and share it with her dad and grandfather.

I didn’t have time to go for a walk at work today. There was just too much to do, but I had a great day regardless. Lots of laughter, partly due to April Fool’s Day pranks, partly due to a Twilight status message competition we had going on through Google Chat.

I’m Team Jacob, by the way. Real men don’t sparkle.
