Spent some time roleplaying as Lia’Vrei in Star Wars Galaxies Thursday night. A couple of hours, actually.
Bella-donna took one Lia’Vrei, erstwhile archeological student and possibly the galaxies newest Sith apprentice, to what is referred to as “The Bunker.” It’s a bunker decorated as a cave on Dantooine. There they met a couple of Bella’s associates, Timeus and Raven, who started in sniping about Lia’Vrei being new and thus obviously untrustworthy and incapable of keeping their secrets. T started threatening to obliterate everyone, which went over with predictable success. Bella gave T a chance to explain himself, then basically rolled her eyes, took her apprentice and left.
The scene would have ended much differently if I was still playing Dawnstar. Doubtless it would have involved more menace from my character. Probably pickles, too. It was interesting getting into the head of a new and completely different character.
The pair did an excellent job of proving that people who roleplay antisocial characters generally have a hell of a time trying to find anyone to roleplay with. I’m willing to put up with a lot in the name of remaining IC, but. . . there are limits. I’d might be more forgiving of their wank if I didn’t know it was possible to play a dark character without being antisocial or shutting down RP with others.
After the scene was over, they admitted things didn’t go the way they’d planned and that maybe a reroll might be in order. You really think so?
Then Bella-donna took Alikas, another potential apprentice, to the maze on Lok and Lia’Vrei came along as an observer. That went much better, and Alikas actually did a very good job with the scene.
