Aya reports that her mini camping trip was fun and “the best field trip ever.” Her pillow got lost before she even got there. (How that happened, I have no idea. Didn’t it go up in the same car with her?) She doesn’t have any sunburn or mosquito bites, though. Whew!
She saw deer, some bats, and dredged something up out of a pond. They looked at the stars (no light pollution there), but she couldn’t find Orion’s Belt. I asked her if they roasted marshmallows and was hit with a giggling wall of 6-year-old enthusiasm. Apparently that is where the “SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEE” sound originates. They made S’mores, which she adores. I have been instructed to get marshmallows, chocolate and graham crackers at the store this weekend.
She was the first kid to bed at 10:30 pm Thursday night, and kept waking up because it wasn’t her own bed. Her best friend woke her up “too early” by poking her in the foot.
I am so glad Aya is home. The house is much too quiet without her. I missed her terribly.

I envy her Hello Kitty jacket.
