Blueberry Sour Cream Ice Cream!

Joy the Baker is a blog I found via StumbleUpon last week. There are some absolutely delicious recipes there, but it was the Blueberry Sour Cream Ice Cream with Hot Fudge that caught my eye.

I was cooking all day on Mother’s Day (because I wanted to) and tried out this recipe on Sunday. The blueberries impart this perfect, almost unreal violet-purple hue to the ice cream. Visual appeal aside, the ice cream was great by itself, light and sweet-tart and floral. With the hot fudge, it was amazing.

Aya pronounced it delicious. Brian didn’t try any, but he’s very choosy about his ice cream (mint chocolate chip or cookie dough only) and he doesn’t have a thing for the color violet like I do.

If you want to try making it yourself (if you have an ice cream maker, you should – it’s easy), here’s what you’ll need:

  • blueberries (fresh or frozen)
  • sugar
  • salt
  • lime
  • heavy cream
  • sour cream

The complete recipe and ingredient list is at Joy the Baker.
