Belated Mother’s Day tradition

Every year, it seems like Aya is sick on Mother’s Day.

I thought we might be able to sneak past the tradition this year.  She had the sniffles yesterday, but I passed her symptoms off as allergies due to a windy day and time spent outside helping me garden.  And then I let her stay up late (8 pm) last night.  She as all snuggly – I thought it was because she was in a Mommy mood.

I should have known it was because she wasn’t feeling well.

Today, she had more sniffles, a sore throat, and a headache.  Didn’t eat much for dinner, but she did scarf down about 12 spears of asparagus in 5 minutes.  I tried putting her to bed early, but she couldn’t sleep and then started complaining about a stomach ache (which might have more to do with the asparagus). So we watched House of Mouse for a while and she chortled at Donald and Goofy’s antics.

There’s a chance it could be allergies – it is really gusty today – but my gut reaction is she’s getting a cold of some sort.

I told Brian to keep her home from school tomorrow, so there’s a chance she’ll be well enough for her field trip on Wednesday.

Sigh.
