LotRO: Doom of the Last-king

The free content update of Chapter 13 has made its way from Roheryn to the rest of the servers in Lord of the Rings Online: Shadows of Angmar.

I’ve decided that fishing tournaments might make for interesting roleplay events. It’s a good, In Character way to socialize with strangers over a shared hobby. So far, I have gloried in three or four hours of fishing, mostly around the Shire. My trophies are proudly displayed on the walls of my lovely home in Maltmead.

Fortunately, my six year old daughter finds it as entertaining as I do. I was surprised that she was content to watch me play; she particularly liked watching the lure bob under the surface (“Mom! You got a fish!”) and discovering the disappointment of reeling in a rusty dagger, clump of muck, or rusty dagger. She keeps encouraging me to try the puddles in Angmar, but I don’t think orcs, goblins, or iron crown fighters appreciate fishing.

I’ve heard some complaints about the whistling that happens when you call for your horse now. I can see how it might annoy some people, but really, the sound that accompanies eating is much, much worse. I ripped my headphones off in horrified, nauseated shock the first time I heard my Elf Hunter crunch, slurp and gobble her way through a pie.

Yeah, it’s a goldfish trophy, okay?

  • I *liked* the horse whistle–but I agree with you about the eating sounds. I nearly twitched out of my skin :p

That is a nice fishy. Beat those who mock with a very big fishing pole.

Looking in the taxidermy shop, there is apparently a 50 pound salmon out there just waiting to be caught. I think my hobbit needs to go for that one- it will be bigger than he is!
