Pet luv

The last time Lil went to the salon, we were talking about pets, and her stylist mentioned that Paul Mitchell now made pet wipes. I don’t remember how it came up. Probably when we were talking about Paul Mitchell’s Super Skinny Serum, which is an anti frizz / smoothing product.

“What’s a pet wipe?” I asked, mystified.

The stylist explained, “For between baths. Or, like baby wipes.” She went on to tell us about using baby wipes to clean up her 90 pound German Shepherd who was partially paralyzed after a spinal embolism. The dog learned to walk again and even learned to let himself outside when he needed to wee, but he’s never quite sure when he’s done and needs a bit of cleanup afterwards. Obviously, it’s easier to use baby wipes than try to give a 90 pound dog a bath every day.

“Yeah, but Paul Mitchell?” I probably sounded incredulous. “What’s wrong with regular baby wipes?”

My twin commented that some people will spare no expense for their pets – even buying expensive salon products for their fluffy babies.

“Guess it’s good to branch out,” I acknowledged, although I was still dubious and made a note to look it up when I got home.

And it is a real thing: JP Pet Full Body & Paw Wipes. JP Pet is from John Paul, one of the co-founders of Paul Mitchell. Naturally, they also make shampoos (oatmeal, waterless, conditioning), conditioners, and detangling spray. There is a John Paul Tearless Gentle Puppy & Kitten Shampoo, and even tooth-and-gum and ear-and-eye wipes.

But why not?

The furry members of our families deserve to be pampered as much as the hairless monkeys who buy the gushy food. They look better than we do, anyway.
