Def Leppard’s Songs from the Sparkle Lounge won’t be out for another five weeks, but Rockline previewed the album Wednesday night. I didn’t get home until 9:30 p.m., so I missed the first hour of it.
Caught a few questions, all of which seemed very predictable. A rather nervous Chelsey (Chelsea?) from Hawaii did have a good query, asking why Def Leppard don’t have any songs on Guitar Hero. Apparently Photograph, Animal and Rock of Ages will be out on Guitar Hero 4.
There was a silly moment when Rick Allen was talking about staring at Joe Elliott’s bottom. (And a very nice bottom it is…!)
According to the Def Leppard LiveJournal community, they announced the possibility of more American tour dates in late July/early August. I would not be surprised if that ended up more probable than possible!
I did hear “Hallucinate” (rather like “Photograph”, great harmonies, very Def Leppard), a bit of “Love” (I swear I’ve heard this before!), and “Bad Actress” (pure hard rock, lots of attitude). And of course “Nine Lives,” which I adore.
However, it is the first track on the CD, “Go”, which sticks out the most in my mind.
SWG Daydream
(9:39:25 PM): Oh my god.
SWG Daydream(9:39:28 PM): Drums.
Yeah.
Not just for the drums, although the drums are hot. Tribal. Primal, even. “Go” is reminiscent of “Rocket” (live), with the energy of “Pour Some Sugar on Me”. It was dark and heavy, with a very Slang-ish Eastern sort of mood. It sent shivers down my spine. Very sexy song.

Now I say it is like: “Drums, drums in the deep… they are coming.”
