What was the Garden of Eden?
Eden is a word coming from Hebrew, meaning delight. It is defined as:
- The garden of God and the first home of Adam and Eve.
- A delightful place; a paradise.
- A state of innocence, bliss, or ultimate happiness.
The Garden of Eden features highly in Biblical creation mythology as the place where the first man and women lived after being created by God. Appointed to tend God’s garden in Eden, the pair were expelled from the Garden after first Eve, then Adam, ate forbidden fruit from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil.
