That time of year

Aya has a cold. Again.

She was pretty tired on Tuesday, which I assumed was due to the time we spent running around in the cold at the lake that morning. And she didn’t sleep well and kind of had a poor appetite that night. Before I left for work on Wednesday, I told Brian I thought she was coming down with something and to 1)not take her out and 2)make her drink more fluids – which she did, but it was too little, too late. Wednesday night, she started in with a sporadic productive cough and wanted to cuddle a lot.

This morning, she woke up early with a pretty heavy cough, flushed cheeks, and a sore throat. She didn’t seem that miserable, though. Over the course of the day, it progressed into a headache, tummy ache, and earache.

Poor thing.   I hate seeing my vibrant little girl brought low by illness.

Hopefully it’s just a cold and not influenza. A couple of local schools (and damn near everyone at work) have people dropping like flies from the flu.

Of course, everyone at work comes in at their most contagious before finally giving up and staying home. I started using zinc again (avoiding Vitamin C supplements this time).  Probably should have started it a couple weeks ago, but maybe it’ll keep the worst at bay.
