Little things - geeklet
Jan 28th, 2008 by Eve
Aya knows how to use a digital camera, operate Brian’s MP3 player, and call me on Brian’s cell phone. She can install CD-ROM games on her own computer and surf through her favorite sites on the internet - usually PBS Kids, My Little Pony, Barbie, and Nick Jr. She is quite blase about using a mouse and keyboard.
There’s a darker side to this. She also knows how to play Sims 2 on the Playstation. Unfortunately, she watched me playing the Sims on my computer a few weeks ago and now has a rather morbid fascination with the antics of ghosts in Sims 2. She got it into her head that the point of the game is to kill off as many characters as possible through privation.
Aya is also a Star Wars geek - Star Wars were her first words, of course. She hums the Imperial March and Duel of the Fates as loud as she can. She wants to be Padme Amidala or Princess Leia when she grows up. She can’t wait to go back to Disneyland and get picked for the Jedi Training Academy. She has her own lightsabers (blue and red - she prefers blue) and an E-11 carbine.
Sometimes she watches over my shoulder as I’m playing Star Wars Galaxies and draws my attention to the status of my health bar. Or asks me what I’m doing. Or what I’m laughing about.

I couldn’t really explain this one. Betimes, I’m a terrible mother.
Brian has, quite responsibly, taught her that Jedi are ‘good guys’ and Sith/Dark Jedi are ‘bad guys.’ Obviously, I can’t be trusted to differentiate between the two ideologies for her.
